Mahkota Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (was GEC of Malaysia until 1997)
John Hall was CEO of Mahkota from 2001. He restructured the company, with the brief of moving into technologically high potential areas. He closed businesses with no future and invested in the most promising businesses. In particular he started a new Hi-Tech business in SCADA technology and sold the Lifts & Elevator business to Thyssen Krupp. The new Water and Environment division obtained its first two contracts for the design and build of Water Treatment Plants (WTP). Major projects, notably delivery of a 500KV substation in Malaysia, a 250KV substation in Bangladesh and the180km East coast electrification upgrade of Sabah were completed. He worked in parallel with his successor, Encik Kamil Khalid, leaving the company in December 2004.
